Hi there, thanks for your question.
There are loads of opportunities in the Royal Corps of Army Music to study audio engineering, and we have our own technical and studio equipment and those qualified to operate it. However you would have to audition first and do this role alongside being a military band musician. Do you play an instrument?
You can check out more about Army Music at our website here: https://www.army.mod.uk/who-we-are/corps-regiments-and-units/royal-corps-of-army-music/ or Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/Royalcorpsofarmymusic. If you want to find out more detail about our careers then fill in our contact form here and one of the team will get back to you: https://forms.gle/hth5FLA9hD43HXYz7.
Keep in touch!

Thanks for your response! I am definitely interested in joining as an army musician in order to begin learning sound engineering. I play piano.
How does the audition work? Am I supposed to send in a video first and travel to the UK afterwards? I am a Commmonwealth citizen, so how do I find locations for the audition and basic training? Which base would I have to go to for basic training as a musician?

Hi, no problem and sorry it's taken me a little while to get back to you.
You can see all the audition requirements here: https://apply.army.mod.uk/roles/corps-of-army-music/musician
I would advise the first step is to contact the Corps Engagement Team using this form to discuss potential options to send in a preliminary video performance as you are overseas: https://forms.gle/qCEJWookbH4ZjxXF6
All Royal Corps of Army Music recruits undertake their initial training at either the Army Training Regiment at Winchester or the Army Training Centre at Pirbright, unless you are under 18 in which case there are some places offered at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate on a case by case basis.
I hope that helps? Do let me know if you have any further questions.
