I applied for the Royal Marines and got medically deferred for steroids for asthma after the age of 5 but haven’t ever needed them.

Hi, the only way of 100% checking is to apply. Steriods / inhaler for asthma is a no no but it can be appealed against in the Army. There are people who've sucessfully appealed but it would depend on how long ago you had an inhaler etc etc. It doesn't matter if you didn't use it - if you have had a prescription for it and collected the prescription then it is on your med records. Unfortunately no-one then is able to say whether you used it or not. The armed forces has a duty of care and wouldn't want to put you in a position where it could harm you with a known medical problem.
