Joining the Royal Engineers, how does life as an armoured engineer compare to life as a general fitter?
Additional information
I've just passed Army selection and have to decide between the two, but both really appeal to me. Also, are there any opportunities to learn other trades beyond your chosen trade after finishing training? Thanks

General fitter is essentially our version of Vehicle mechanic, you will work on anything engine wise from as little as a chainsaw engine to a tank engine. really good quals to have when you leave aswell for the future.
Being armoured limits you to being just a commander/ driver of tanks essentially. if you want to experience armoured life then you can go to an armoured unit as a fitter gen.
You do realise that these 2 jobs are in different buckets. what bucket have you been told you are in.
