Can reservists apply to do selection in the newly formed Ranger regiments? If so, which unit would it be best to join?

You will need to be a member of the Army Reserve first before applying to be in the Reserve Ranger Company. The Ranger Reserve is open to all Army Reservists who are fit and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, experience and behaviours required.
All applicants must pass the nine-day Ranger Assessment Cadre (RAC) to join the Ranger Reserve. Reservists cannot apply directly for the RAC without first attending a Reserve Ranger Assessment Cadre Screening (RRS) weekend.
The Rangers routinely work in high-threat environments overseas. Ranger Reserves will need to be fit and appropriately trained to quickly adapt and operate seamlessly within the Battalions Ranger teams. With that comes the expectation of a higher level of commitment to training compared to other Reserve units.
Whilst on National Reserves unit Terms and Conditions of Service (TACOS), you will be expected to commit to around 46 Reserve Service Days in total, per year. Typically, this would be split between the Annual Deployment Exercise (up to 14 days) or a short-term deployment, and four-day training weekends, virtual drill nights and specific training modules. Once a member of the Ranger Reserve, because it will be a National Reserves unit, travel expenses to training from any part of the United Kingdom will be covered. Training, initially, is likely to take place in and around the Pirbright area.

Hi Josh, thanks for replying… Are there any minimum service requirements prior to applying for the Ranger Reserve Company once in the Reserves? I’m in the process of re-applying after having previously served for 4 years. Would my prior service count towards this if a minimum service requirement was in place?

Not that I am aware of as most of the weighting is on the assessment process rather than necessarily previous experience.
