When rejoining after failing CDT, is it possible to rejoin without redoing basic and could i join a different regiment?

Hi, the things you need to know are, you can only apply 2 years post CDT discharge, so hopefully this is the case for you. A prior service check will be carried out which will decide if you can rejoin and where in the process you rejoin at. This is based on how long you did and how long you have been out etc. Finally on job choice you do not have to go back into the same role, but that said you can only go for job roles you have passed for during the process and for roles which require set GCSE grades, you have those grades. So plenty options anyway.

As Graeme correctly states, personnel discharged through ‘Service No Longer Required (SNLR) – CDT positive test or sub cut off’, may apply to rejoin after a period of 2 years since date of discharge, provided the Army has access to the full facts of the case.

If accepted to return to duty, applicants will be placed on the individual retest programme and subjected to no-notice CDTs for up to two years after rejoining.

If you can confirm how long ago you left, and what rank you were upon leaving, I can give you a more accurate idea of what training you would be required to complete?

when i left i was the rank of Sapper and i left towards the end of june 2022. thank you

Based on the information of June 22 then you can not re-apply until June 24, so check your actual discharge date and then apply the day after so it is 2 years.

With regards to training, personnel who rejoin within 6 years of leaving the Army, will not normally be required to undertake Basic Training (BT) or Initial Trade Training (ITT). The correct training pathway will however be developed on a case by case basis and will depend what trade you decide to go into.

There is nothing to stop you engaging through the Army website now to make them aware of your intent to rejoin once you hit the two year mark.
