Officer Engagement
As a REME Officer you will not learn one trade in depth or get qualifications relating to these trades but as an Officer you are required to understand the basics of every trade. After commissioning, you will complete a 4 month course where you will learn and get tested on your understanding of all these trades. For example you will learn how to strip down an engine and try your hand at welding etc. The intention of this is to give you a sound understanding of the work your soldiers will be conducting on a daily basis.
The only exception to this is soldiers which have learnt their trade and then have commissioned a few years into their career.
Hope this helps.
