Hi there,
Thank you for your question.
I’m really sorry to hear you are feeling this way but the Army could be the prefect opportunity to give you some drive and purpose!
I would advise having a look at the Army Role Finder (https://apply.army.mod.uk/roles). This will show you all the roles that are available within the Army. Have a read through and see if any of them sound like the kind of thing you’d be interested in and then start an online application to talk to a recruiter and get more information.
Good luck!
Katie

It's great that you're considering the British Army as a way to find purpose and direction in your life. Joining the Army can provide you with valuable skills, a sense of belonging, and a clear path forward. Here are the steps you can take to get started:
- Research and Decide: Take some time to explore the different roles available in the Army. Think about what interests you and what skills you want to develop. The Army offers a wide range of roles, from combat positions to technical and medical roles.
- Meet the Requirements: Ensure you meet the basic requirements for joining. You need to be between 16 and 35 years old, a British citizen, a citizen of the Republic of Ireland, or a Commonwealth citizen with indefinite leave to remain in the UK. You'll also need to meet health and fitness standards and have lived in the UK for at least 5 years.
- Application Process: Start your application online through the British Army's official website or visit an Army Career Centre. The application process includes filling out forms, attending an Army Briefing, and going through an Assessment Centre where you'll undergo medical and fitness tests, as well as interviews.
- Prepare for Assessment: Focus on improving your fitness and preparing for the assessment tests. There are plenty of resources available online to help you get ready, including fitness guides and practice tests.
- Seek Support: If you're feeling uncertain or overwhelmed, don't hesitate to reach out for support. Army Career Centres have advisors who can guide you through the process and answer any questions you have. They can also provide information on what to expect and how to prepare.
- Stay Positive and Determined: Remember that this is a big step, and it's normal to feel nervous. Stay positive and keep your goal in mind. The Army values determination and resilience, and showing that you have these qualities will help you succeed.
Taking the first step can be daunting, but once you start the process, you'll find that there is plenty of support available to help you along the way.
