Outside of your job role, what activities can you get involved in? I love playing sports. How does this work?

Hi Kiera,
Sports is a big thing in the British Army. If you enjoy sports and there are sports that you are good at the Army will invest time in you to make you better. We have a number of serving soldiers and officers who are elite athletes and even Olympic athletes as well as some who play professional sports for teams throughout the UK.
If you search online for the Army Sports Control Board you will see just how big sports are!
Hope this helps, if you have any more questions, please ask.

Hello Kiera, thank you for your question.
Our job role as a HR Specialist within the Staff and Personnel Support usually means we can manage our own workload to a certain degree. That means there are many opportunities to be involved in sports or other activities. I'm very sporty and I find the time to play sports frequently. Normally, a Wednesday afternoon is a sports afternoon and you would have the time to go and play sport. Twice a year we have annual exercises within the Adjutant General's Corps that includes alpine skiing for two weeks and also another two weeks in the summer doing multi-activity including mountain biking and white water rafting in Austria. Sometimes our role can be busier at times than others so sometimes the chance to play sports may decrease.
I hope this helps
Zoe
