My messages appear delivered but still no response. Wouldn't the phone be switched off, thus showing sent and not delivered, if put in a locker?

You will probably find that they are just very busy. During basic training, recruits are not allowed to carry the mobile phone on them as it can be a distraction during lessons. If you are concerned, then you can ring the number that you should have received during the first week of training. I would strongly advise against this unless there is a genuine reason (death or injury of a family member as an example). No news is good news!

Hi, i would echo Matthew's comment above. No news is good news. They could be out on exercise, or their phone could have broken (and there's no chance of getting a new one until they get a long weekend). If you're still concerned and you've not heard from them by the weekend then you could give the number you've been given a call but if there's no emergency then know that your spouse is in safe hands and they will no doubt call when they have time. This is the hardest part of military life - training as it's like being back at school and you can't govern what you do and when. If you can try and be strong through this and strong for your spouse, you guys will get through anything. Good luck x

Thank you both very much. This was really helpful and eased my nerves. X
