Good Morning Charlie, Thanks for your question.

In a lot of ways, it's as easy/difficult as you make it. With plenty of prior training under your own steam, it can be made much easier to meet the standards set by the parachute regiment for their soldiers. However, if you choose not to prepare fully, you will be much more likely to be unsuccessful in completing the required courses.

Best ways to train are as simple as getting out and running. Make sure not to focus just on treadmill work, not much compares to getting your running shoes on and just going out running.

Make sure to use varied terrains when running, so make use of as many hills and difficult conditions as possible, in order to get yourself used to these situations.

Timing your runs can also help massively, giving yourself a goal to work towards and seeing the improvement you're making can give you even more motivation to improve.

Biggest thing of all is have fun with it, the worst thing that can happen is to dread going out for a run, try to keep things varied and switch them up often in order to keep it interesting and maintain on task, keeping your future vision in sight of becoming what you want to be.

Best of luck for the future, and if you would like any more advice, your local army careers centre would be more than happy to help you out.
